At Mercedes-Benz, we pursue the vision of such an intelligent interior that offers a seamless and safe driving experience through the activation of suitable infotainment, comfort and safety functions. The first elements of this vision can already be experienced in our vehicles: from the second sleep detection to contactless gesture control and profile selection by facial recognition to the representation of three-dimensional contents in the combination and augmented reality head-up display. These functions are based on precise estimates of body and face characteristics and provide a solid basis for further research and development in the field of interior design. Thanks to our internal matrix organization, experts from hardware development, testing, functional and software development combine to achieve visionary goals together. For this we develop AI-based software as well as sensor hardware and control units. Be part of our vision and actively support us in meeting the following exciting challenges: Structure and extension of data generation and detection systems: You work with the design and implementation of solutions for the efficient generation of raw data from vehicle sensors as well as high-precision ground-Truth data in a vehicle/simulator environment

Scenario-based data acquisition & validation: You support the planning and implementation of measurement campaigns in specific user scenarios (e.g. different light conditions, concealments or complex interaction gestures). Use modern recording systems to generate high-quality raw data for automation testing

Support for the automation of test procedures: You help to design and implement automated test pipelines. Use recorded data streams (replay tests) to ensure the performance of our interior sensing functions in a reproducible manner under defined conditions

The activity can begin from April 2026.

Course of study: Inscribedr Studentin in a technical or scientific course such as Computer Science, Data Science & AI, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Vehicle Technology, Physics or Similar

Programming skills & data competence: Python's knowledge of programming is required. Basic knowledge of machine learning and deep learning frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch) as well as understanding of data pipelines and data structures are desirable

Cloud & Tool experience: First experience with version control (Git), containerization (Docker) and ideally CI/CD concepts is desirable

System understanding: Interest in working directly on the vehicle as well as in handling measurement technology and sensor technology (e.g. cameras, infrared sensors). Basic understanding of camera systems and other sensor technologies in the automotive sector

Knowledge of German and English in Word and Writing

Soft Skills: Embossed Analytical and Strategic Thinking, High Initiative, Teamability and Communication Strength
