With Mercedes-Benz AG, the vehicle manufacturer is one of the largest providers of premium and luxury cars and vans. Our team “Technology development joining and HV-TEC-LAB” is part of the Process Development Drive Systems division at Untertürkheim. In our field of activity, we are engaged, among other things, with the material-locking joining methods friction welding, resistance welding, ultrasonic welding, soldering and adhesive bonding. We validate and develop new connection options in our own laboratory with the aim of serial conversion. In addition to the validation and development of new processes, the optimization of existing processes is also the focus of our work. Typical applications of our technologies can be found in the entire drivetrain, such as e.g. on the electric motor, the automatic transmission and the batteries. We are a motivated and dynamic team of currently 13 employees and look forward to interested and committed applicants. Are you interested in a technology practice? From October 2025, an exciting theme field awaits you in the field of joining technology. These challenges include: Self-fulfilment of welding and adhesive test series in the laboratory plus Evaluation Processing in measurement technology and evaluation software Competent metallographic sample evaluation Documentation and preparation of the collected findings and their effects Optional literature research on the current state of the art A previous start is also possible after consultation.

Study programme in the field of mechanical engineering, production engineering, materials engineering or a comparable scientific/technical course Advantageous knowledge of joining/deforming technology and measurement technology Experience in metallography of advantage Secure knowledge of German and English in word and writing Safe handling of MS Office Commitment and team skills Competence for independent problem solving Analytical thinking and strategic working Communication skills and creativity fun in practical activities in the laboratory and hands-on mentality, driving licence class B desired Please note that your internship at this site must have a prescribed mandatory share.
