This is what awaits you: A dual study, in which you can implement the content learned at the Göttingen Vocational Academy (VWA) directly in practice. Your advantage: You already earn your own money from the start and get a direct reference to the future professional everyday! Through the practical deployments you will get to know some areas of responsibility of the county administration as well as your future colleagues. Depending on the field of application, you will be responsible, promoting and accompanying but also managing, organizing, coordinating or forming. For example, you will be employed in Department III “Youth and Social” in the teams of youth care, family counselling, guardianships, youth assistance in criminal proceedings, the General Social Service or also in Department I “Creative Development” in the Social Psychiatric Service. After your successful completion of the study, an application is preferably provided in the field 31 – social education services. The tasks to be created by you include the advice and support of children, adolescents, families and single parents in family, school or other challenging situations. There is a wide range of tasks at a high level of requirements. With your studies you can reach a wide-ranging knowledge that makes you a true all-round talent. This is also shown in the later professional day. This content offers dual study: The course covers three years and six semesters and takes place in dual form. On two working days you will study at the Berufsakademie Göttingen, on the other three working days you will be trained professionally in different areas of social work at the Northeim County. The course is modular. There are eight teaching areas to be distinguished: propaedia, fields of action of social work, education; Education & society, social competence, methods of action, deepening, psychology and law. The basis of the study course is also a variety of compulsory modules, such as youth, social, health care, social function of social work, social pedagogical work context, individual case assistance, group and community work as well as psychology and law. Each module completes with a proof of performance, for example in the form of a clause, a housework, a project work or a presentation. The goal of the Bachelor's degree program Social Work is a science-based and at the same time practice-oriented vocational education, which offers you a wide range of possibilities of use and fields of activity. The reflection of the learned and experienced is also supported by regularly project-oriented study contents. After successful completion of all exams, you will be awarded the state recognition as a social worker in addition to the Bachelor of Arts degree (B. A.). You therefore no longer have to complete a year of recognition after the dual study.
