Senior Computer Engineer (m/w/d) – Focus on Red Hat OpenShift

The Stefanini Group is looking for an experienced Senior Compute Engineer (m/w/d) with specialization on Red Hat OpenShift to strengthen our Compute Operations Team. This position is 100% remote – you can work from home office throughout Germany. In this key position, you are responsible for the smooth operation, continuous development and 3rd-level support (L3) for our corporate customers who operate business-critical workloads on container and virtualization platforms.

Your tasks: Takeover of the L3 escalation for complex technical problems related to Red Hat OpenShift (Control Plane, Worker Nodes, Network, Storage, Authentication); support for OpenShift Virtualization (KubeVirt) and VM-based workloads; Error analysis and rapid recovery with Major Incidents (P1/P2) and sustainable problem solution by root cause analysis; performing deep troubleshooting activities (cluster degradation, node failures, API instability, network and storage problems, workload errors); planning and implementation of lifecycle activities such as upgrades, patching, security hardware and certificate management; Ensuring high availability and resilience (backup/restore, disaster recovery, runbooks); support in the migration of VMware to OpenShift Virtualization (strategy, technical implementation, stabilization, performance tuning); development and maintenance of operational documentation, SOPs, Troubleshooting Guides and Reference Architectures; support for automation initiatives (e.g. Ansible, GitOps, Bash/Python scripting); improvement of monitoring and observability solutions (Prometheus, Grafana, EFK/Loki); Support for security and compliance topics (RBAC, integration of identity providers, cluster-harming, audits).
