In the Institute of Economics (ECON), an indefinite period is University professorship (W3) ‘Volkswirtschaftslehre II’ to occupy.

As part of the university task, the participation in the teaching of the KIT Faculty of Economics in the courses Digital Economics, Economic Engineering, Business Informatics and Business Mathematics comprises 9 semester week hours. A personality is sought which, due to its outstanding scientific qualifications, strengthens the competences of KIT in the field of ''people's teaching''. In addition to the economics of digitization and the artificial intelligence, potential research focuses on political economics, behavioral economics or climate economics. Expertise is required in diverse modern methods, such as applied theory, laboratory and field experiments, applied econometry, dynamic optimization or machine learning. The use and setting of research impulses for efficient research infrastructure at KIT is desirable, for example for the experimental laboratory KD2Lab. In the course of the KIT Faculty of Economics and in the cross-faculty studies with the KIT Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, the University Professorship takes on lectures, exercises, seminars and team projects with thematic priorities in the field of ''Volkswirtschaftslehre'' including the offer of mandatory events in the Bachelor's Teaching Programme, in particular the introduction to the Volkswirts. In teaching, the university professorship is of central importance for the recently established “Digital Economics” course, which is to be further expanded. To this degree, the university professorship is to contribute to substantial teaching contents in the field of the economics of digitalization.

In addition to high-ranking publications in international journals, an outstanding scientific qualification is provided, for example by habilitation, successfully evaluated junior professorship or equivalent services and didactic suitability that suit the activity. At the same time, it is expected that cross-disciplinary analytical and strategic thinking, third-party funding and the willingness to introduce themselves as part of the collegial institute management of ECON into the academic self-management of the KIT faculty and the institute. The prerequisites for recruitment are valid according to § 14 para. 2 KIT Act i. V. m. § 47 Landeshochschulgesetz Baden-Württemberg. The recruitment shall be carried out in the course of an indefinite civil service. .
