We are strong in the design of the social – for over 100 years. The Evangelical University of Freiburg stands for demanding teaching, outstanding interdisciplinary research, successful transfer and an international orientation. It is represented in national and international university associations. With around 1,000 Bachelor and Master students, we implement teaching and learning in small seminar groups with intensive care.

EH Freiburg is a SAGE High School: Teaching, Research and Transfer Focusing on Social Work, Health Sciences, Education and Education as well as Applied Theology. This profile is a specific feature of all HAW in ecclesiastical support. For university teachers this is central, because it goes far beyond the mere thematic choice. The aim is to make a relevant contribution to the shaping of a sustainable, democratic and social-state society. We qualify people for social and global responsibility for greater justice.

Our university is distinguished by outstanding research. It is in the top group of HAW in Baden-Württemberg with regard to the acquisition of third-party funds and the publication performance. Research is interdisciplinary throughout. The research focus is on childhood education, which is represented on the research map of the University Rectors' Conference (HRK). The university has a strong professional profile in gender studies with a Competence Center of Violence in Gender Relationship, equipped with two main professorships. In addition, she works on research topics that are globally virulent: for example, right-wing extremism and right-wing populism, migration and racism, anti-Semitism, sustainability, demographic change, peace research (especially through the peace institute of the university), health and supply research. The CHE has continuously tested the research strength of our university as outstanding. EH Freiburg is a member of the Baden-Württemberg Promotion Association and 30 percent of its university lecturers are represented in the associated doctorate center.

With their research activities, their participation in umbrella and specialist associations, their commitment to transfer and scientific training, their policy advice and their practical cooperations nationally and internationally, our university teachers contribute to the development of societies. This common goal is the motivation for interdisciplinary cooperation in teaching, research and further education within the university as well as with high school, political and practical partners in Germany and abroad.

With around 1,000 Bachelor and Master students, we implement teaching and learning in small seminar groups with intensive care.

The Rector*in is expected to guide the SAGE High School integratively and to develop its services in the fields of teaching, research, transfer and third mission. As an HAW in the church institution, we seek a leadership personality with profound university experience and connection with the Evangelical Church.

The Rectorin represents the university in all relevant higher education bodies of the country and the federal government as well as in the network of the Euro-Campus CELIS in the trinational corner. Heshe is a permanent guest of the National Synod of the Evangelical Church in Baden and represents the university in bodies of the National Church such as the EKD and its deacons. Theological-diaconical skills are desired. A personality with proven high organisational and leadership skills as well as strategic and inclusive competence is sought. It is characterized by persuasive power, enforcement, management, cooperation and communication skills.
