Number: MER0003WKF In the Mercedes-Benz plant Rastatt we plan and design the production and logistics processes of the next generations of vehicles. As a lead plant in compact car production, we bundle deep process knowledge, innovative methods and a globally connected logistics know-how. Our ambition is characterized by efficiency, flexibility and technological excellence. In the course of the transformation of automotive production, we develop modern, digitized and autonomous logistics concepts in order to shape the future of production in a sustainable manner. The increasing automation and digitization also plays an increasingly important role in intralogistics. Driverless transport systems (AGV) are a central component of modern production logistics and offer the opportunity to make material flows more stable, efficient and more economical. At the same time, the high complexity of assembly, coupled with increasing variety of variants, requires new holistic planning methods to precisely evaluate automation potentials. As part of your master's thesis, you will participate in the analysis and evaluation of the automation possibilities in the assembly hall of the plant Rastatt. You are actively working at the interface between assembly, logistics planning, material flow digitalization and IT – and with your research you contribute to shaping the future of intralogistic vehicle production. These challenges come to you: Knowing the assembly processes, material flows and logistical conditions of the plant Rastatt Analysis of the current IST material flow and the associated process costs Development of the state of the art and state of research in the field of FTS, automation and intralogistic systems Identification and description of suitable automation scenarios for the assembly hall Development of a transparent and resilient economic model deriving recommendations for action and developing a possible implementation framework Documentation of results and presentation in the field The activity can start from January 2026 #month year#. The final topics will be discussed with the university, you and us.
