As a process engineer in the field of optical production, you are technically responsible for the processing of optical components along the entire production chain. Together with our specialists, you will be responsible for several manufacturing process steps such as various grinding, polishing and correction processes – in a collaborative environment.

Your role ensuring stability and reproducibility of relevant polishing processes; systematic causes analyses and sustainable countermeasures in case of deviations.

Analysis of production data, process results and quality deviations; deriving concrete process adaptations, standards and improvement measures.

Development, evaluation and optimization of machining strategies for optical components with focus on surface quality, shape accuracy, process windows, continuous stability and serial capability.

identification of new or improved processing methods; Accompanying experiments/tests and transfer of shared solutions into stable series processes.

definition of technical requirements for machines, tools, devices, consumables and process aids; technical preparation of investment requirements as well as monitoring of implementation, acceptance and handover to production.

Support of supply, prototype and series start processes by evaluating customer requirements, drawings, specifications and feasibility aspects in the polishing environment.

Close cooperation with production, work preparation, development, quality, purchasing, SCM and suppliers; manufacturing perspectives are represented in cross-disciplinary projects.

documentation of relevant processing processes, process parameters, standards and Lessons Learned; Training or instruction for the qualification of the users.

Own-sponsored takeover of work packages, part-project responsibility or project management when introducing new processing technologies, process adaptations or series approaches.

Complete studies in a natural or engineering field (e.g. mechanical engineering, production engineering, precision engineering, optics/photonics, physics, materials engineering) or comparable qualification.

Practical experience in optical production, ideally in polishing, lapping, fine grinding, surface processing, production engineering or process development.

Funded understanding of manufacturing processes, process windows, process capability, quality features and statistical evaluation of process and test data.

Knowledge of grinding and polishing technologies, tool/device concepts, machine and plant evaluation and qualification and series transfer of new processes.

Safe handling of structured problem-solving methods (cause analysis, trial planning, risk assessment, sustainable process stabilization).

Embossed interface competency, clear technical communication and the ability to prepare complex manufacturing topics for production, engineering, development, quality and management.
