Research Assistant – Forming Technology (m/f/d)

Branch: Humanities Branch: Humanities

At Hagen, Iserlohn, Meschede, Soest and Lüdenscheid, we offer 70 bachelor and master's courses – also in a professional context and together with educational partners at other locations. With about 10,000 students, we are one of the largest universities in NRW. Excellent teaching in a personal working atmosphere and manageable groups creates good professional perspectives for our graduates. Research and development are important to us and regionally, nationally and internationally oriented. In teaching and research we enjoy a high reputation. The Fachhochschule Südwestfalen is looking for a short term for cooperation in the laboratory for solid forming at the Iserlohn site in the approved joint project EIS-KW Senior Consultant (m/w/d) – Forming technology – A scientific further qualification as part of a doctorate is supported and accompanied. .

Research projects in the field of forming technology include a wide range of topics ranging from the development of innovative manufacturing processes to the optimization of thermal processes to the integration of new materials. Typical examples are the investigation of the process parameters in hot forming, the development of sensor technology solutions for real-time monitoring of manufacturing processes or the analysis of the properties of materials in high temperature applications. In addition, projects are being implemented that deal with the digitization of production, the application of FEM simulations for process optimization and the implementation of new materials into existing value-added chains. The aim is to continuously increase the performance and efficiency of modern manufacturing technologies and to develop practical solutions for industrial applications. Key tasks In this doctorate, you will be able to work on a research and development project with a high practical relevance. Their focus is on the experimental analysis and optimization of manufacturing processes, in particular with regard to thermal variables, new materials and digital technologies. You develop and validate innovative measurement and forecasting methods for recording process-relevant parameters, using modern sensor technology and digital evaluation methods. In addition, you evaluate and optimize complex tool systems and manufacturing solutions both in the laboratory and in the industrial environment to increase process reliability and efficiency along the entire value chain. Cooperation in the design, construction and operation of technical systems for industrial use is a central part of activity. This is complemented by the analysis and evaluation of manufacturing processes using technical, qualitative and ecological indicators. In addition, the creation of technical documentation and project reports and the coordination with the project partners are among the tasks. Scientific publication and support for the acquisition of research projects are also essential elements.

completed scientific university studies (Master or Uni-Diplom) in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, materials engineering, mechatronics or a related engineering science course for the doctorate, the university degree acquired must be qualified in accordance with the doctoral regulations proven knowledge in at least one of the areas: Warm-massive forming / forming technology Thermal processes in manufacturing processes Measuring technology or mechatronics Quality management in manufacturing processes

knowledge of data analysis, modelling and handling of sensory data (e.g. Python, MATLAB); FEM basic knowledge is desirable Ability to work independently and to create English-speaking publications Language competence in German at least on C1 level Willingness to cooperate in an interdisciplinary research consortium and project-related operations at the industrial partner

The full-time working relationship with option to part-time is based on the collective agreement for the public service of the countries (TV-L) and is to be fixed by 31 December 2028. The working time and place of work can be flexibly designed as part of an existing model. .
