Number: MER0003VK1 Are you intrigued by automated driving and the complex ADAS sensors that are integrated into modern vehicles? Are you passionate about programming, especially in Python? This thesis offers students with experience in camera and Lidar technologies as well as Python the opportunity to introduce and further develop their knowledge in an exciting environment. In the course of work, a method of securing the calibration of camera and lidar methods during the movement of the vehicle is to be developed in an early phase. Details of the calibration methods are available and existing data collections can be expanded if necessary. These challenges come to you: Development of a concept for functional securing of calibration algorithms when starting a new series Data acquisition and evaluation using algorithms and visualization of results Conducting stability investigations of the algorithms at different viewing directions – both on test setups and on test vehicles Development of algorithms for object detection, position determination and classification Generation of performance indicators (KPIs) for characterization of algorithms and detection of measuring capability The final topics will be discussed with the university, you and us. The activity can begin from March 2026.

Course in Mechatronics, Mathematics, Computer Science or comparable technical courses Language knowledge: German (Verhandlungssicherung/C2) Very good programming knowledge: Python (alternative C/C#) mandatory Good spatial imagination Good knowledge of mathematics in the field of vector mathematics and statistics are mandatory Creativity, team skills, motivation and self-control Knowledge with Linux (Ubuntu) are beneficial Knowledge of vehicle technology and calibration are advantageous Immatrikulation at a university or transition phase between Bachelor & Master studies
