The Office for Information Security, created in 2024 and located at the Chancellor, is responsible for the strategic development of information security at the University of Mannheim and plays a central role in protecting research, teaching and administration information. The focus of the staff office for the next years is the sustainable introduction of an information security management system (ISMS) in the complex and heterogeneous environment of the university. This includes the establishment of binding structures and processes as well as the awareness and involvement of all university areas. The enrolled office offers design space for the strategic and organizational control of the University's information security. Strategic, technical and organizational management of the Information Security Office incl. Budget and personnel responsibility Strategic development of information security at the entire university with new ideas and approaches Construction and operation of an information security management system according to BSI IT-Grundschutz or ISO 27001 and its sustainable anchoring in the University Working with all tasks related to the establishment and maintenance of the ISMS (e.g. guidelines, awareness-raising measures, incident management) Advising the management level on information security issues and regular reporting to the management level Contact person for all questions of information security within the university and for external stakeholders Close cooperation with all areas of the University, in particular the University IT (UNIT) and the Data Protection Service Active initiation, consulting and support of projects to introduce new processes, applications, IT systems and technologies with regard to information security

Master/Diplom in the field of (economic) informatics or comparable courses and professional experience in the field of information and/or IT security Experience in active control or the construction of an ISMS Knowledge of the BSI IT basic protection and ISO 27001 Embossed IT confession Practical IT experience of advantage Analytical, structured and solution-oriented mode of operation Valuable guiding style at eye level with hands-on mentality High level of communication competence, negotiation skills in difficult situations and conflicts of objectives, implementation strength and safe occurrence in dealing with different levels of administration, university areas and stakeholders oral and written communication skills in German; beneficial in English Diversity competence in the form of an appraisal and respectful handling of persons of all dimensions of diversity
