PhD student – Investigation of the influence of ionizing radiation on corrosion processes at the steel-glass interface (m/f/d)
Research for a society in change: This is our drive at the Forschungszentrum Jülich. As a member of the Helmholtz Association, we face the great social challenges of our time and explore interdisciplinary the digitized society, a climate-saving energy system and sustainable economy. Work together with nearly 7,600 colleagues in one of the largest research centres in Europe and shape the change with us! Nuclear Waste Management (IFN-2) at the Institute of Fusion Energy and Nuclear Waste Management (IFN) deals with safety-relevant aspects of nuclear waste disposal. The research focuses on application-oriented basic research on the behaviour of waste forms and on the geotechnical barriers of deep geological end storage for highly radioactive waste. We investigate the release, migration and retention of radionuclides on different scales, from nuclear processes to macroscopic system understanding. The IONKA project, funded by the Federal Ministry of the Environment, Climate Protection, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN), is making an important contribution to this. Strengthen our team as 01.04.2026 PhD student:in – Investigation of the influence of ionizing radiation on corrosion processes at the interface steel – glass (w/m/d)
