The Institute of Immunology in the UKE is part of the Centre for Diagnostics. His tasks are laboratory diagnostics of immune-mediated diseases, research and academic teaching for students in the field of immunology. It also conducts scientific investigations as a service. In DIN EN ISO 15189:2023 accredited medical laboratory, the medical care routinely primarily carries out the following analysis: Immunophenotyping by flow cytometry Determination of autoantibodies by immunofluorescence and solid phase assays Diagnostics of monoclonal gammaopathies using immunofixation electrophoresis Allergy diagnosis Protein diagnosis (e.g. ELISA) Immunology is a central subject for almost all areas of medicine, as the immune system is involved in most diseases and more and more new treatment methods are available which are based on new findings about the immune system.
