Your tasks • Your profile • What we offer

Cooperation with a research project to predict the chronological course of cracks in components from a cast iron alloy under thermomechanical fatigue stress (TMF) using the finite element method (FEM). Experimental investigations and FE simulations of damage behaviour on macroscopic and microscopic levels are to be combined in a partial task of the project. The project will be worked together with the Institute for Mechanics and Fluid Dynamics at TU Bergakademie Freiberg. Your specific tasks include: carrying out cyclic crack progress and deformation tests at high temperatures on a heat-resistant cast iron material Computer evaluation of the tests and implementation and identification of a combined deformation and damage model for high temperature fatigue Implementation of FE simulations of damage development at microstructure level and component level Perception of the exchange of information and presentation of results with or before the project partners Publication of results in referenced journals

Graduate or Master degree with above-average grades in one of the fields of physics engineering, mechanical engineering, mechanics, physics or comparable Promotion is beneficial Very good knowledge in the method of finite elements, in material mechanics, and in the numerical methods for engineers Good knowledge of experimental technology and control technology Good knowledge of programming languages, especially Python and Fortran 90 Knowledge of fracture mechanics is advantageous Very good knowledge of English and German Good communication and information behaviour, targeted and structured working, initiative/willingness to use and skills, team skills and willingness to cooperate and willingness to learn
