Number: MER0003P6U The Untertürkheim plant is home to the Mercedes-Benz car engines, axes and gearboxes and their production. Our department - NVH Drive Systems - focuses on the development and testing of new technologies and concepts for optimizing the acoustics of the drive trains of all car series. In this case, short-fiber-reinforced plastics are becoming increasingly important due to their particular damping behavior. Body and airborne transmissions play a central role in the automotive and plastics industry in early development phases of modern products. In order to simulate these realistically, reliable material data are crucial. Particularly in the case of short-fiber reinforced plastics, which are frequently used for lightweight components, precise characterization under different environmental conditions is required. In this internship you will get the opportunity to work experimentally on current questions. These challenges include: Construction and implementation of tests for vibration analysis on samples and components

3D laser vibrometry for contactless measurement of oscillating forms

Characterization of linear-viscoelastic material behavior as a function of temperature, humidity and frequency

Designing an experimental material database to validate modern simulation models

Presentation, evaluation and preparation of the measurement results to support material modeling and simulation

The mandatory practice can begin from September 2025.
