The cemetery and burial system at 13 municipal cemeteries is an essential field of activity of the environmental operation. The department of burial and crematorium is responsible as a municipal cemetery carrier and performs the tasks as a Lower cemetery authority in Bremen. In addition to the implementation of burials, the department develops new forms of burial in the course of social cultural change and transfers the cemetery areas into multifunctional and resilient cemeteries.
