Laboratory Engineer specializing in Physical. Chemistry (m/f/d)

At the Institute of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry of the Julius-Maximilians-University of Würzburg, a position as

Labor Engineer Physics Department. Chemistry (w/m/d) or comparable qualification

in full time. The job is part-time, provided that the full-day performance of the tasks is ensured by job sharing. Remuneration is based on qualifications and personal requirements according to the TV-L.

Area of activity

The activities are carried out in the joint scientific and technical workshop and in close cooperation with the institute's working groups. The focus is on the technical support of experimental research projects, the further development of measurement and laboratory infrastructure.

Tasks include:

• Development, development, expansion and technical support of measurement structures and apparatuses as well as IT infrastructure in research and internship laboratories of Physical Chemistry.
• cooperation with complex experimental structures in the fields of UV/Vis-IR spectroscopy, laser and opto-mechanics, vacuum technology, cryotechnology, chemical vapor deposition, electronic control and measurement technology, as well as computer-assisted data acquisition and experimental control.
• Maintenance, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and further development of existing measurement, laboratory, IT and device systems including related hardware and software.
• Development, maintenance and troubleshooting of software solutions for experimental control, data collection and data analysis, in particular using LabVIEW.
• Support in the implementation, evaluation, documentation and evaluation of demanding experiments and analyses, especially in complex laser and spectroscopic structures.
• Support for scientific staff and students in IT and spectroscopic issues.
• Planning and maintenance of general laboratory and workshop operations, including procurement of equipment, technical components and consumables, maintenance coordination, and support in gas logistics and material output.

Requirement profile

• Studies in engineering or technically comparable
• Knowledge of control and measurement technology
• Wide technical understanding at the interface of mechanics, electronics, IT and laser technology
• Experience in implementing scientific questions in experimental structures
• Self-employed, structured and reliable operation
• Ability to cooperate with scientific and scientific staff in an interdisciplinary environment
• Very good German knowledge and good English knowledge in word and writing
• Experiences in one or more of the areas of vacuum technology, optics/laser technology, cryotechnology or electronics

Remarkable, but not absolutely necessary, are:

• Knowledge of CAD or technical design
