Senior Software Engineer (Python / Life Insurance)*

You become part of a newly established, interdisciplinary team in the field of supporting systems. Your job: together with our insurance mathematicians: you develop a python framework (the so-called reference calculator) for the quality assurance of actuarial calculations. To the background: If we take over insurance companies and their contracts, numerous life insurance rates must be transferred to our IT systems. For this purpose, our actuaries transmit: within hundreds to thousands of mathematical formulas and tables from partly decades of documents in code and databases - as the basis for the subsequent automatic migration of the contract data. This process is subject to the highest quality requirements: for each individual contract, it must be ensured that the rights of the insured persons remain fully safeguarded even after taking stock. Therefore, we carry out the modeling redundantly - in two independent systems. A team develops the productive inventory management system with the associated computing core, and the other forms the tariffs in a reference computer programmed in Python. Up to a hundred thousand test cases run every day, the results of which are automatically compared with the productive system - so that even the smallest deviations are reliably detected. The reference calculator, beyond the migration of tariffs, is also used in day-to-day business when parameters of the computing core have to be adapted, as well as for calculating and mathematical processing of complex customer requests. As a senior software engineer*, you take responsibility for the entire architecture of the reference computer in the “reference calculator” team – both at application and deployment level. In addition, you will significantly design the technical infrastructure of the development environment and ensure an optimal developer experience. You work closely with the Aktuar:insides, who translate the professional content in Python. Your task is to introduce your software engineering expertise, identify and solve technical challenges and make sustainable decisions together with the team. Multiannual experience in developing and implementing applications in Python Found experience with: agile software development Cloud infrastructure and deployment of applications in the cloud Preparation and implementation of developer tests Modern DevOps practices, in particular automated software tests and continuous integration / continuous deployment
