Number: MER00048U4 The Center RD/VR designes the raw structure of future Mercedes-Benz vehicles and creates the technical basis for safety, quality and lightweight construction. In close cooperation with development, production, purchasing and international partners, vehicle projects are accompanied from the first idea to series maturity. The area controlling ensures transparency over budgets, costs and capacities and supports management in strategic decisions. As part of the working student activity, you will participate in the further development and partial automation of an existing standard business case for the development of a raw building structure cell. The current Excel-based planning tool supports the determination of development costs, hourly expenses, plan figures and personnel requirements taking into account different cost drivers and project-specific framework conditions. The standard business case is already used as a configurator for deriving development expenses. The aim of the activity is to make the tool more user-friendly, transparent and faster and to integrate suitable Microsoft and AI applications for automation and visualization. Your tasks and challenges: Analysis and structuring of the existing Excel planning tool

Development of clear and intuitive input and output fields

Partial automation of recurring calculation and evaluation steps

Transparent representation of data sources, calculation logics and results

Integration of current MDS premises and planning levels

Development of a standardized dashboard to the results overview

Building an interactive dashboard to simulate different variables and control levers

Examination and implementation of suitable AI applications, for example for data analysis, plausibility or scenario evaluation

Use of suitable Microsoft technologies, especially Excel, Power Query, Power BI, Power Apps and Power Automates

Conceptual extension of the planning tool to the development volumes of doors and flaps

Documentation of solution approach and calculation logic

Power Query can connect, transform and merge data from different sources. Power BI supports interactive analytics and dashboards while power apps and power machines can be used for operating surfaces and automated processes.

The integration of current MDS data is particularly relevant, since the MDS project control is based on a regular setpoint-actual comparison of key figures and milestones as well as on transparent cost, appointment and maturity control
