Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/d) - Supported Lipid Bilayers (SLBs) on SiO₂ Chips
Aster Bioelectronics (GO-Bio funded) develops a wearable biosensor for continuous biomarker monitoring in interstitial fluid. The core technology is a robust bio–silicon interface: supported functional lipid bilayers (SLBs) on silicon chip oxide. Biology partners provide proteins/antibodies and labeled constructs; you will translate these into a stable, quantitative SLB-on-chip assay platform. Collaboration with teams at TUD and TUM. .

Form and optimize SLBs on Si/SiO2 chips (surface prep, lipid/buffer conditions, QC). Functionalize SLBs for protein attachment (e.g., His-tag/Ni-NTA, biotin–streptavidin, other orthogonal chemistries). Develop and run stability + performance assays (bilayer integrity/reproducibility, protein retention/function, fouling). Execute binding assays on SLBs with fluorescence readouts (incl. FRET) and report quantitative metrics. Create reproducible SOPs and data-driven optimization cycles.
PhD in biophysics, physical chemistry, bioengineering, surface science, or related field. Strong practical expertise with SLBs and membrane functionalization (solving on SiO2). Experience with fluorescence methods for membrane assays FRET is a plus. High experimental rigor and documentation skills; comfortable in interdisciplinary teams.
The position is to be filled as soon as possible, starting on April 1, 2026, on a full-time or part-time basic, and is limited until November 30, 2027. Salary is based on the commissions of the applicable labour agreement. Depending on the personal requirements, classification in pay grade E13 is possible. Full-time postdoctoral contract (24 months) at TU Dresden (TUD), Germany. Key ownership of the SLB-on-chip module in a translational, high-impact biosensor program. Close collaboration with TUD/TUM partners and access to excellent research infrastructure. Remuneration: According to collective agreement, plus annual bonus and company pension scheme Vacation: 30 days Career and Development: Numerous internal and external opportunities for professional development, e.g., through our Carus Academy Work-Life Balance: Support from our Family Office, including childcare placement assistance, holiday programs, and care for relatives Health: Extensive sports and fitness programs in our state-of-the-art gym, mental health programs, and occupational health management Employee Benefits: Discounts at our hospital pharmacy, corporate benefits, and other shopping portals You can obtain preliminary information from Ms. Schramm at anastassiya.schramm@asterbio.de
