At the Max Planck Institute for Immunobiology and Epigenetics, the position as a lead of experimental animal husbandry for the breeding and posture of genetically modified animals has to be occupied. As an animal house manager, you take over the professional and organizational management of the animal house within a renowned research institute. You ensure that all animal experiments are carried out scientifically sound, ethically acceptable and legally compliant. Its tasks include the technical and operational management of the animal house with a focus on animal welfare, animal welfare and quality assurance, including planning and organisation of animal husbandry with focus on mouse and fish. You work closely with the pass-by veterinarian, the animal care master, the technical staff and the animal welfare officer, who are competently supporting you in your responsible task. Your further tasks include: Organisational management and management of animal husbandry, guidance of the animal care team in close coordination with the animal care master Technical support of construction projects in close coordination with technical staff Implementation of the 4-R principle and the ethics guidelines of the Max Planck Society in cooperation with animal welfare officers and veterinarians Introduction, optimization and ensuring compliance with internal standards, documentation and audits on quality assurance Technical advice for researchers and project management on ethical, legal and technical aspects of experiments on animal models Personnel management through support, training and qualification of employees in the experimental animal house

Complete university studies of veterinary medicine and veterinary approval or completed academic studies of biology or the like Continuing training as a specialist for experimental animal studies desirable Multiannual professional experience in the field of experimental animal studies, in particular the breeding and posture of genetically modified mice and, as far as possible, of zebrafish Experience with different postures and hygiene barriers (IVC, insulators, quarantine, S1/S2 [BSL1/BSL2]) Experiences and knowledge in genetic engineering, infection protection and hygiene monitoring according to FELASA guidelines Experience in leadership of employees and motivation Ability to impart complex facts to target groups Responsibility and self-initiative German and English language skills in word and writing
